Hello again!
Today I'm super excited to tell you about Kwik Stix!!
Have you heard of them??
They are new to me!
They are solid, tempera paint sticks that dry in 90 seconds! No water needed!
I will be completely honest.
I really dislike hate paint in the classroom. I do. I rarely ever use it because I can't stand the mess. Every once in awhile I have a student teacher brave enough to use paint, but I only use it maybe once a year for something special. I always have kids touching things in the classroom, or their clothes, or a friend's clothes with their messy paint hands! Yuck.
But that may change...with Kwik Stix!
I decided to try them out first with my toddler. Let's be real, if I don't let 1st graders paint, you know my toddler is paint deprived! And if he can do it, then I know 1st graders can do it!
So, I prepared for a mess.
I stripped him down.
I covered the table.
I prepped the bathtub.
Imagine my surprise...when it was all for nothing!
He did get a little on the plastic by the end, but it was nothing like what would have happened if we were using regular paint from a bottle.
Here is a close up of the paint stick.
It uncaps and you turn the bottom just like you would a glue stick.

My little guy successfully used the Kwik Stix without a mess!
And look at that beautiful picture he made for his mommy! :)

I tried them out myself too. I was expecting them to be just like using markers. I wasn't sure how something from a tube could look/feel like paint. Well, I was wrong! They almost glide as you use them-which is totally different than markers. And they do dry incredibly fast!
Here are my little guys hands-not bad at all! They cleaned up with a baby wipe.

My husband even wanted to try them out after seeing the pictures we did. He approved too!
I ABSOLUTELY recommend these for use with toddlers and in preschool classrooms. They are awesome. I think they would be great in early elementary classes as well! I'm super excited to take them to my classroom. These will open up a whole new realm of art project possibilities!
I'm running a giveaway for a free set of Kwik Stix for one lucky winner,

These look awesome! Unfortunately, I am in Canada so can't enter but will look around for these. I teach first grade as well and always worry about how much paint they are going to get on everything else!

Thanks! These seem cool! I would love if you participate in my first giveaway in a couple of weeks!
ReplyDeleteI also HATE painting in the classroom - almost as much as I dread using glitter! These look good enough to possibly even use at home with my own two little boys!
ReplyDeleteI would put them out for centers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI would put these at my art center.
ReplyDeleteI think these could work well for an upcoming St. Patrick's Day rainbow art project.
