It's Been Too Long!

Hey bloggers!

Sorry for my absence! I've been busy being a mommy...it's just too much fun!

Here's what we have been up to in my classroom...

We did an Eric Carle author study a few weeks ago. After reading books, we discussed the characters, setting, & gave a brief summary. Then, we graphed our favorite books! The Very Hungry Caterpillar was the class favorite!
Around the window are some Eric Carle inspired crafts. The students chose a picture (I just googled some black & white clip art pics of a caterpillar, ladybug, firefly, and chameleon, & crab) and glued little pieces of tissue paper on them.

We made a few other Eric Carle inspired crafts as well. We made this cute pom pom caterpillar after reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar and then the adorable firefly after reading The Very Lonely Firefly.
Like the firefly? Grab the template {here} for free!
I printed these on cardstock and cut them out for the kids to use as tracers. We used gold glitter to make them shine!

I will also be posting a picture of our hallway bulletin board for open house. I loved it. We have been working on opinion/persuasive pieces. The kids' final products turned out great! We added some tissue paper flowers to our tree to "spring" it up. The kids also created flower glyph art projects for decoration around the tree. We then added our fireflies around as well! We were really happy with how it turned out.

During open house, the kids had a scavenger hunt to complete. It involved showing their parents things like their writing, their art projects, their book boxes, the smart board, etc.

We have a teacher at our school that is an AWESOME artist. She let everyone choose their favorite book and she made door decorations for open house! They look amazing! My door is Pete the Cat of course!

Speaking of Pete, I also have a new class mascot! I change the speech bubble every week or so. This week, Pete reminded them to dress warm...we had 80* temps last weekend and then it dropped back into the 40s this week! The kids love Pete.

We have a 4 day weekend for Easter and I couldn't be more excited!

More posts & updates to come soon!
Thanks for stopping by! :)
