Apples, Apples, Apples!

Hey bloggers!

I haven't had as much time to blog as I'd like! The beginning of the school year is too crazy. I like October when we are running on our full schedule and "training" the new students has been completed successfully! (I also just really like fall!) We typically have an hour time block for reading, writing, &; math...so we're still building up to that!

This week we're going to be starting our apple unit! We'll be reading fiction & non-fiction books about apples. For the fiction books, we'll create a chart for the characters, setting, & beginning-middle-end. For the non-fiction, we'll be creating a KWL chart and eventually they'll make their own "can, have, are" chart. We'll do a few apple art projects & a labeling activity as well. This will all take place over the next two weeks! I have apple erasers for patterns, counting, and graphing. I also have these apple themed stations! We may not be ready for all of these tasks yet, but hopefully by next week we'll be ready for most of them. I'll do my best to take some pictures to post later!

I'm excited! Up to this point, we've been doing basic back to school tasks...practicing routines, creating anchor charts, introducing library tubs, introducing reading stations & rules, reviewing the alphabet & sounds, practicing counting, etc, etc! It will be nice to finally start something new and not just be reviewing procedures!

I also have another new item! I created these station activities with most of my own {clipart}! Love it. These are full of basic counting skills, matching numbers to pictures, number identification, & color identification.

I hope everyone has another great week!
