End of the Year Fun!

I'm joining in with Valerie over at All Students Can Shine for her End of the Year Celebrations Linky!
I don't have a "tradition" for every year...it just kind of depends on the group. My group this year gets WILD if you do anything out of the ordinary or get off of schedule even a bit. So we won't be doing anything too extravagant.

This Friday is our fun day (field day). It has a circus theme and is school wide (K-3). So the morning is really up to each classroom. The first graders will be doing some relay races & obstacle course type things. Then the fun day part starts in the afternoon. For the past few weeks, all of the teachers have been giving out tickets for good behavior. Each classroom sets up a game (parents come help out) and then students use their tickets to play the games. They can also use their tickets to purchase snacks (snow cones & popcorn). The 1st grade classrooms will have a cake walk and bean bag toss! I think some grades are doing water activities outside (it's supposed to be 89 degrees) and the others will have games in their classrooms. It should be a great day!

We also have a countdown to the last day of school! It is on big chart paper outside the 1st grade doors. The kids love when we tear a paper off at the end of the day!

I've also been working on their end of the year gifts! They'll each be getting a book, a crayon person, and a class wordle picture. I made the crayon people tonight, they're adorable!
The class wordle...I still need to get these printed! I made one of these at the beginning of the year with just our names. The kids love it. They always stop at the door to look for their name (even though it's been the same picture all year and their name hasn't moved! haha). So now they'll have one of their own.
One other activity we'll be doing is the memory book that I made! It has cover pages for K-3 and includes pages for the students to write their favorite parts of first grade, what they'll miss, etc.

We'll also be having a dance party next week on our last day. There have been a few times this year that I have turned on radio disney and let them dance on the rug at the end of the day (if it was a good day!) and they LOVED it. They have been asking to do it again so I know they'll be excited for that! Although I can't believe the school year is about to end...I am looking forward to it. The last few weeks have been so stressful with trying to get all of the assessments done and report cards ready and all of that, that I'm ready for a break. I will miss my little firsties though! When we were talking about what we'll miss about 1st grade today, one little girl started to cry. I'm sure our last day will be a tough one!

Today was my husband's last day of school. A LOT of schools around here are already out. It seems like we're one of the last. Are many of you out already??
